Carmen Freudenthal & Elle Verhagen

Carmen Freudenthal (photographer) and Elle Verhagen (stylist) have been working as a photographer / creative team since 1989.
Their collaboration with fashion designers, performers and other artists results in a big variety of work, which is, at the same time, always recognizable by a typical humoristic approach of daily life and an undeniable own style, using and abusing contemporary imagery.

Avenue van A tot Zero

9-09-2006 t/m 26-11-2006 at the Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam
The first retrospective for this legendary Dutch monthly. Avenue was the first real Dutch glossy, defining the taste of Dutch men and women for over a generation. Regular articles featuring fashion, interior design, food, literature, art and travel were new. The liberal use of photography in Avenue was unprecedented, the format and graphic design exceptional and challenging. Almost everything was allowed, as long as it was relevant – and spectacular. Big names such as Paul Huf, Eddy Posthuma de Boer, Ed van der Elsken and Inez van Lamsweerde made the magazine a podium for Dutch photography.
The exhibition and the book Avenue from A to Zero contains original spreads from the magazine, original photo prints and unpublished material.
